Saving the Document as a Tagged PDF

• The easiest way to save a Word document as a tagged PDF document is to use the Microsoft tool.
• Press F12 to open the save As dialog.
• In the Files of Type, choose PDF.
• Check the Options (Alt + letter O) in the Options dialog for using Headings as Bookmarks.
• Press Alt + S to save the document as a tagged PDF.
• Going through either the Acrobat Ribbon or the File/Backstage area can give you differing results even though both tools are Adobe Acrobat add-ins for Word.
• For complex documents, you can try each method and decide which one gives you the best Tags.
