Resources
- The key players in the field Ruth Fink, Jane Jarrow and Michael Masinter. A couple of others who are key in our field are Salome Heyward, Jeanne M. Kincaid, who are attorneys, specializing in the disability law as it relates to higher ed. AHEAD both National and State, DSSHE listserv, Disability Compliance for Higher Education, PepNet, Another type of resources is every type of conference (go to them, they are worth it) and the list goes on.
- Our field is ever changing. Read and stay connected with your peers. Do not fall into the trap of staying isolated. This list serve and others provide what we didn't have back in the day-camaraderie, an understanding ear, and guidance. The business of Higher Ed and rehab can get stressful. We need each other for staying in a healthy balance. We don't have to look far to find peers in rehab that are stressed out to the point they participate in unhealthy choices.
- Simply knowing you will never have all the answers. Reach out for opinions/guidance - you will not be punished if you do.
