There are at least 3 aspects to making participating in a Webinar or Web conference accessible to users with disabilities:
Dick and Norm will cover all these basic ingredients providing their experiences and personal views. There are so many different systems, each used differently and so many users bring different software and experience that there are no definitive answers to this question. Dick and Norm really hope that participants will contribute as their experiences may be different and can greatly enrich this discussion. Yes, it will be more a sharing discussion than a formal presentation as such.
While we will talk about different systems, Dick and Norm want to introduce a slightly different Web conferencing interface than EASI has used before. We want to explain it to you, and we greatly appreciate your reactions to it. While we find it reasonably accessible, it is a little different, and we’ll send info to those who register to help especially those using screen readers with its accessibility. *** If you are a screen reader user, please consider attending. We want your feedback!
We also believe that a good system can be used in ways to greatly reduce its accessibility. Similarly an unfriendly interface can be used in ways to minimize those issues. How it is used is important.
Please register early so you can install the software in advance and look at the accessibility documentation.
Please be sure to enter your email address correctly. If you do not receive a confirmation message within 24 hours come back and register again.
