Free Two Part EASI Webinar Series

AutoHotkey: Customizing Computer Accessibility for Specific Needs
Wednesday February 13th & 20th - 2PM EASTERN (New York) time.

Presenter: Andrew Downie

Andrew Downie is Senior Education Officer Adaptive Technologies with the New South Whales Department of Education & Training. The job involves providing information on available and emerging adaptive (or assistive) technology options to Departmental staff and students. This is done by such means as reviewing new products, arranging/participation in seminars and workshops and working on projects to meet specific needs.

AutoHotkey is a free scripting language for Windows. In this two-part webinar series Andrew Downie will examine its potential value when providing resources for people with a broad range of disabilities

Part One: The Power of AutoHotkey in Helping People with Disabilities

The first webinar will, by way of case studies, provide examples of situations which can be improved by use of AutoHotkey scripts. You will not need to have a programming background or even an inclination to get one to participate in this session. That is because discussion will focus on what the script achieves, rather than on the specifics of how it is done. Regardless of your programming aspirations, this session should help you to think creatively about ways to resolve access barriers.

Part Two: Creating AutoHotkeys from Simple to Complex

The second webinar is an introduction to AutoHotkey scripting. To benefit from this session, participants will need a basic familiarity with programming concepts. We will begin with some simple scripting examples and move on to somewhat more sophisticated techniques. Some of the scripts presented in the previous session will be dissected to show "what makes them tick" and to provide some ideas for getting started.
