Side-by-Side Comparison Setup
- I find this less confusing if I only have the two documents open:
- The original document, preferably a copy of it.
- The last revised document or the document I want to compare it with.
- Put focus in the original document so that when you do this, it will be the document on the left. It is easier to keep track of this way.
- Press Alt + W, B for View Ribbon, Side-by-Side which will also turn on Synchronized Scrolling.
- Put focus in the original document and press Alt + R, M, C for Review Ribbon, Compare, compare Documents.
- In the settings, this time choose the show the changes in the revised document.
- This means you'll see the original document on the left and the document identifying all changes up to that point on the right.
- Use Alt + W, W for View Ribbon, Switch Window to move exactly from document to document…not other keyboard commands.
