Object Navigation in NVDA
- Objects are individual elements ordered in a tree or hierarchy
- E.g. buttons, menu items, text, dialogs, title bars, toolbars, menu bars, web sites, task bar, system trey, icons, the desktop, etc.
- Users can navigate around trees of objects without moving focus
- Allows NVDA to read extra information otherwise not available
- Also lets users get extra information without losing current position
- The number pad is used to navigate between objects in NVDA
- E.g. read current object, move to parent or child, move to next or previous, etc.
- Object navigation is also used in Linux screen readers and Apple VoiceOver
