Tables of Content and Headings
- PDF/UA 1 states that the first Heading in the document must be H1.
- Use the Title Style and make sure it is an H1.
- You can then use the Options button in the Generate Table of Contents dialog to remove the Title Style from the Table of Contents.
- Tables of Content should retain the Dot Leaders so that visually you can follow across the page to the page number.
- Do not use all capital letters, it is the most difficult font attribute for anyone to read, with or without a disability.
- Do not put the numbers immediately after the text as it creates a barrier for those with visual, learning or cognitive disabilities.
- Do not uncheck the check box that makes the TOC linked!
- Alt + S, T, C for References Ribbon, Table of Contents, Custom.
