Columns Scare Me!
- For those who have never used the Columns tools in Word, they might seem a bit daunting at first.
- Select the text.
- Go to Page Layout, Columns.
- Choose your layout (2, 3 Left or Right which are Parallel Columns).
- Two Section breaks are inserted into your document, one before and one after the "Column" format.
- Use the Column Break to put a Heading on one side (or a sidebar) and the text on the other.
- This is usually done for Left Parallel Columns.
- Use Draft View to see how a screen reader would read the Columns.
- Moving from Column to Column with the keyboard is a bit tricky, but doable.
