• Open standard implemented and used almost universally, including for archival purposes
• PDF must be "tagged" and have a rich structure to be accessible
• Often, PDF are just images (inaccessible), are not tagged, or a have poor read order and have little/no markup for images, etc.
• Maintains page fidelity. Can "reflow" if text-based, but reflow removes all styling and images
• With help (from, say, TextHelp PDF Aloud or Nook Study) can be read with highlighting
