Buying items online consists of two parts:
The e-commerce part in which you visit a source of online e-books and select to have one sent to your computer
Adobe Digital Editions and the eBook site's server then communicate with each other, and the eBook server sends the selected item and adds it to the Adobe Digital Editions application on your computer
