5/31/11 EASI Webinar Transcript

okay, Norm. (Inaudible) Letters in Word and Excel and are presented as did Clark from Eden scientific. Hi, Dan.

   Hi, Marisol, how are you?

   I'm fine, thank you.

Okay so I guess they are getting ready to go. This is Norm Coombs from EASI. This is the third in a series of four webinars on a series of accessible columns and tables. Last week we did PDFs, today we are doing Word and next John Anderson is doing HTML (Jaws screenreader reading) it is going to be on Wednesday next week, Wednesday, June 8 Wednesday, June 8. I will have to check to make sure that is okay with the captionist. That is the same time, eleven Pacific and Mountain one central and two Eastern. Going to have a couple people to take over for me as I'm going to be in Lansing Michigan doing a separate presentation. Glad I could get the recording. Okay, Dan. I know you have got a lot to say and that you do it well so I'm going to back off and start learning.

Thanks again, Norm, I appreciate it. Before I get started I'm going to mention a couple things that I am going to do that may be a divergence from the way that you and Marisol are doing things, Norm and I've given you a heads-up, what I'm doing during the webinar today is I'm going to share the desktop. So before I get too far I'm going to push out (Jaws screenreader reading) and if you look at the bottom of the page press F6 if you're using Jaws (inaudible) moved to the browser window let me slow my voice down. Hold on. All right, so I slowed the voice down for you. If you go to F6, to the browser window, near the bottom of the page there is a link that says next page opens in a new browser window (Jaws screenreader reading) okay, if you want to follow along with the lesson today in a separate window when I share the desktop what happens is where the text is now when you press F6 that becomes an image of my desktop, so to Jaws that is just a graphic, so it is a blank basically. You will still be able to come to the chat room or the chat area by pressing F8. If I hit the right key. SF will take you to the users preview F9 will take you to the chat history. And this is true whether or not you are using Jaws. You can use the keystrokes just by themselves but what I would like you to do if you haven't already done so his press F6 or click on the link that says next page opens in a new browser window. I will give you a few seconds to do that before I start sharing the desktop otherwise the link would not be there. So let me go through the objectives while you are grabbing that. Let me also say one other thing about desktop sharing since you will have a lesson outside the training room and we are also going to be up and practice files outside the training room between MLB and the background he was to be able to hear me talking and here's Jaws talking and if you are a Jaws user and follow along with the notes you will be missing anything because the notes are outside of the training room so I think it works everybody involved. We've had good success with sharing the desktop and this is something that we do at freedom scientific for our webinars and we use the software for talking communities which is a great piece of software for training. What we are going to talk about is why it is important to use styles in Microsoft Word and creating accessible tables in Microsoft Word. I know that Karen McCall was on the list and she did a very very good presentation on purpose in more documents to PDF and things like that. And one of the things that she mentioned was used to repeat as I arrive at the top of each page and we are going to do that today as well. And I think it is important that you go ahead and do that even if the table is not spanning more than one page and we will talk about that later. I also use the bookmark feature in Word to mark the column and row headers for Jaws screen reader's users and we will open up Excel and I will show you how to use the new feature this is an excellent function on a Jaws function username feature to create workbooks and have the column and row headers read automatically for Jaws users and I will show you how to delete the names if you need to rename them we will talk about how column and row headers read automatically with Jaws using the new support. It's not really new. It's been around for a while and then the advantages and limitations of the naming feature in Excel. I'm going to go ahead and start the desktop sharing. And what's going to happen is on your screen just for a moment the dialog box will pop up. You don't have to do anything with it just wait four or 5 seconds and wait for it to go away (Jaws screenreader reading). What I do, this is really a great thing for a presenter. I have a dual monitor system so I can put the documentation I'm working on in the left monitor I can put the training room in the right monitor and keep an eye on both of them. Of course I can see, so that helps you can also use the system (Jaws screenreader reading) and magic with this really cool if you haven't installed by using dual monitors yet you might think about it. It's a lot of fun. We're going to talk about creating accessible tables in Word first. You can create tables that speak the column headers for Jaws users whether it is column headers or providers but one of the things that I want to really emphasize is that it is best to use styles in Microsoft Word and I know Karen said this already but I'm going to repeat it. Styles mean everything because once you've got headers of different elements of the document page allows user can press insert Z. and switch over to a navigation mode with jaws that they can do the same thing within a Word document that they can do on the Internet. Press H. to move to the next heading press H to move to next table in a Microsoft Word document and so on. And when they get where they want the press insert Z. again and go into the normal editing the foreword so if you put the accessible content in their URL to navigate in ways that you might not have even imagined. Those types of things that they can deliver to a left bookmark with the letter P., check form of the letter C., form, content, edit with somebody and so on and it's really nice that you have a Jaws user's ability to read by section, vibration, by paragraph moving directly to those items like a footnote which is kind of hard to find because the footnote is usually not accessible part of the screen down at the letter and they can do that if you put all the structural things into the document. You will hear this repeated over and over, styles, styles, styles, right, Karen? She will be listening later, I think. Let's take a look at the table (Jaws screenreader reading) reading keystrokes first and let's talk about how to read a table using Jaws or magic. Table reading keystrokes if you go ahead and click that are open and abusing the list of links just like I did and I will press enter. I may just open up in a new browser window so that you could tab back and forth while you are practicing if you need to. Also if you are using Windows 7 another great command for one window Windows key left arrow puts the current window to the left side of the window exactly split in the middle of the screen and then you go to the next window and put Windows key right arrow and it puts the program on the right side of the screen so that if you have a large monitor that is really nice for being able to compare side-by-side documentation and things, too. It is a Windows key left or right arrow. I push the letter T. to move to the table. Maybe I'm not in the right window. Here it is. And one of the other things that we do when I do webinars from freedom scientific and I know a lot of people are Jaws users as you know that I change the voice that tells users to a real speaker solo director voices are free for download for people to use Jaws and magic and open book. That way if you are using Jaws and using the normal synthesizer which is eloquence, you can hear the distinction between my Jaws and your Jaws because of the difference in the voice hopefully. Of course I slowed down for those of you who cannot understand it when it runs fast like I do and a lot of other people do as well. So I'm going to down arrow through this table (Jaws screenreader reading). Move to the next table is the letter T. And if you want to move to the prior table it is shift in the letter to you pretty easy to remember. The main keystrokes that people tend to use are in conjunction with the control and the ALT key and the number pad (Jaws screenreader reading). I've just highlighted those on my screen basically control ALT and the arrow key to the right will move you to the next cell to the right. And it also keeps you can find it to the table if you are in the table and you get into a really doesn't let you get out of the table and get lost. Control ALT up, to the column one cell above control ALT arrow to go one cell below. Control AL T. home to go to the first cell in the table and control AL T. and those are the primary ones you will use when you are testing. There's quite a few other table items like read the entire column, read the next column, read the prior column, correct row, prior row, and so on. So if you want to keep that up and look at it later that's going every few want to use it in the background, that's fine I'm going to go back to the exercises. Let's talk about how we are going to get column headers to work for making Word tables. If you are a Jaws user and you're following along in the documentation you can press the letter H 2 months by heading. And it is the third heading on the page. If the table spans more than one page of going to talk about it first and then we will get to practice produced a table spans more than one page that you want to do is put your cursor in the row where the headers are and as Karen mentioned last week, word does not provide for row headers. I believe it just as column headers. But you can put the cursor in a row that contains the column headers and if I say this backwards forgive me. I always get these two backwards, it seems like. With jaws, we can actually set it up so that there are row headers. So you can go ahead and make them eat properly for people using Jaws. So you push the application key if you are in the realm or if it is rows and columns I think I said that wrong, and we didn't hit straight. If the intersection of the column of the row or the place where the sections meet you can put the cursor in the culprit for this when talking about here is for Microsoft, not Jaws. You put your application key in the row where the headers or injures table properties after you click the application key or with the mouse if you get application properties and then tab to the checkbox for repeat as header row at the top of each page and you can press enter to close the dialog box and it saves the changes. I've got some instructions and a table here for Word 2003 and prior versions and then word 2010 (Jaws screenreader reading). Vicki, are you using Jaws, you set up my supposed to see something in the webinar room? I am lost, help. Are you using Jaws? Not using Jaws. Yeah, Marisol says Vicki you must have a dialog box to exit the desktop sharing and Vicki if you are not seeing it what you can do is exit the training room and when you come back into the training room, close it and log back on again you should see the dialog box that Marisol is talking about. It should say there is desktop sharing going on would you like to join. Sorry about that. It looks like she locked up and she will be right back. If you have for 2003 or prior versions you press ALT to go to header menu and choose heading, if you're using ribbon in 2007 word or 2010 I've listed the directions forward to 2010 and most of the time those are the same but not always. In 2010 it is ALT plus the letter JL. J, l. And then okay so we are going to talk about tables with through and column headers I see you're back in there and Vicki are you seeing my desktop hopefully? (Jaws screenreader reading) And another thing I wanted to mention, Norm and Marisol, when the people record the archives are watched the archives when people watch the archives of the desktop sharing does not come across in the recording. The only thing in the recording is just going to be the text which is what you would normally see and that is just a feature of TC conference software. One of the things I forgot to mention about column headers for Word tables is more than one row contains the headers select all the rows first and did it with the application key and choose table properties. Make it into Microsoft Word we will do is put the insertion point in the cell where the row containing column headers need to go to the insert menu and choose bookmark. That is where 2003 about the directions there (Jaws screenreader reading). Okay, so you have Word 2003 AL T. plus the letter I insert menu and bookmark K. for k in Word 2010 it is all plus the letter N n and K. for k. You can also, what you are going to do is basically if it is both column and row headers you are going to type the word title as the bookmark name (Jaws screenreader reading). I just typed it into the chat area. If you're using only row headers in other words it is the first column you put your cursor in the first column and type road title. I'm typing this (Jaws screenreader reading) for the chat for those participating library and archives. If you are just doing a column on me in other words the first row contains headers of the table, then you choose the bookmark name column title (Jaws screenreader reading). Okay so those are the three things that we are going to do. Now today we are going to practice with the one title. But if you do have multiple tables okay, then there are some instructions in the document that talk about using things like different names. Okay so you could have title_one and another table with title_two.this is going to press (Jaws screenreader reading) you can tab through buildings or shift tab through the links if you go to for more useful list of links if you have a mouse to click on it and get the first practice document zip file open. Now, what happens with Windows 7 and IE, rather it is part of an IE 9 thing which is what I'm using is if you have the information bar pop-up which would be IE 8 or earlier you would push ALT and the letter in November to go to the information bar and tell it that it's okay till Internet Explorer that it's okay to interact with the file. With Internet Explorer number 9 you had a navigation bar down at the bottom of the screen and it is kind of glowing orange and telling me visually that it needs some attention and the same keystroke works, ALT plus the letter N. If you are using earlier Internet Explorer with the information bar you had to press I think enter or on the information bar and you would get a content menu now the navigation bar has (Jaws screenreader reading) I'm going to choose, when you get the zip file just go ahead and choose the document in the zip file by pressing the down arrow (Jaws screenreader reading). And I will press enter to open it on my system (Jaws screenreader reading). Neither one (Jaws screenreader reading) now, another security issue that comes up for some people with Microsoft Word if you are using Word 2010 years there is kind of like an information bar at the top of the screen and it is visually colored orange or yellowish. It's a protected view. You also heard that in the title bar insert the letter T (Jaws screenreader reading). Okay so here is how to get to that with the button, there's a button advances enable editing. You want to enable the editing so that you can do this. To get it with the keyboard just press the ALT button that will put your focus on the ribbon. It puts me on the file tab when I moved down to the information bar is here that says protection do I use the control, just did ALT by itself moved to the ribbon and control by the toolbar (Jaws screenreader reading). I do not want more details but I do want to tab to the enable editing button. I just press tab and press the and it will be like a brand-new document ready to open (Jaws screenreader reading). This is just a real simple table and across the top across the room going left to right the first to assert themselves as spring summer fall and winter in the fifth column. So for columns with a different months of the year. On the left-hand side we have fall in row two, average temperature in rounds three and average sunny days in row four. I will just down arrow until I get to the table. It's not that far down (Jaws screenreader reading). Go ahead and get your focus in the table. If you are using jaws you will press control ALT right arrow to move to the right and you should hear spring. I also heard Jaws say that it was column 2 of five. If you do a control ALT plus the down arrow it should say 12 inches. Row 2 of 4, and it did not say the word rainfall which is out to the left. That is the row header. Because it has not been marked up yet. I will press control ALT right arrow to go to the right where it says 14 inches. I know that I'm in the row for rainfall (Jaws screenreader reading). But again, there is no indication to me as a jaws user which column I am in. I might do what Norm did in his earlier presentation, presentation one, Norm would up arrow or control ALT up arrow a few times to get up to that and control ALT down arrow back again. Or you might have been using tab if I am right, and to tab and general layout of the table to figure it out. We want to do is make it read automatically. If you are using jaws you can do control ALT home to get to the next cell (Jaws screenreader reading). Column on in row one. Go ahead and put your cursor at (inaudible) if you're using tab you can shift tab to go backwards and get there. It will be the first to shift tab toward spring. And when you are in that spot, let's go ahead and press ALT plus the letter N to go to the insert tab. In the bookmark is in the links group which is the one, two, three, fourth group on the lower ribbon. You can tab to it if you tab about 40 times but if you relate first letter navigation press the letter K. to activate the word links. If you're using the Jaws virtual ribbon and it is a virtual ribbon feature which is a nice thing. I wasn't sure how many people were abusing jaws and the webinar. If you're using a virtual ribbon and is just down arrow and you'll hear pages and sub menu tables submenu illustration submenu and links submenu and that's where it is once you are in the links and submenu it right arrow and down arrow or use first letter navigation and press the letter before bookmark. I will press the letter K. on my computer (Jaws screenreader reading). So this is a very simple one. It will just be the simple word, title. If you are just going to do rows you would be row title and if it was columns that would beat column title. So I will choose add, or you can actually present are there if you are using a keyboard and we are back in the table. I'm going to go to the right spring. And control ALT down arrow to go back to 12 inches and this time I should hear rainfall 12 inches. And it is not working (Jaws screenreader reading) I will just check to see if the bookmark (Jaws screenreader reading) and it is there. Let me try something here. Okay I just did a screen refresh for me. Insert escape a jaws keystroke to do a screen refresh and I'm good to go back to the right. If you're interested in learning how to do voice profiles with Jaws it is really a cool feature (Jaws screenreader reading). This brings up the switch to a different voice profile select a voice profile dialog docs and I've got one for webinars and I will go back to that. Let's go try it again. It must not like this in the sizer. Interesting. Let me switch back to the other voice since I did my testing with eloquence. Going to slow down this voice for you permanently (Jaws screenreader reading). I apologize for that. Let me try again (Jaws screenreader reading). I've got it working now with eloquence. I will have to check why it is working with RealSpeak solo because I thought it was working the last time I tried it. I'm also using jaws 12.0.1161 which is the latest version that has been pushed out the door. Sometimes we push a new version out into bricks and we find out about it like this. If you haven't tried it go ahead and do that and try navigating around. What I would like to do is go ahead, and if you just press control ALT NUM 5 by itself you hear the column header and the row header and the contents of the separate the idea is a if I press control ALT down arrow if I am going down I heard that I'm in the average temperature in row and also you hear the eloquence voice gives a slightly different, deeper pitch. Once I'm going left and right to hear the row title again is a little bit too verbose. You would hear spring average temperature 65 fall average temperature 60 and so on. And that's a little bit too verbose because you already know that you are in this room. So if I do control ALT right arrow I chose your fall 60. They will read both of them for use if you are not sure control ALT and I press five. A great thing about this method is you don't have to have chose to create bookmarks.  As long as you know how to name the bookmarks properly should work for any jaws user when they move through these tables. Let's go ahead and look at example 2. And go back to the lesson. Back in the lesson for creating accessible tables. I will press tab or insert F7 whichever you prefer. And choose the second practice document go ahead and open and it will also open in a zip file. The reason I do that is because in some cases a Word document can actually open up in a browser window and that's not good. What happens then is that Jaws is not using the word scripts and things like that. It's using the Internet Explorer scripts. I will press open and open it on my computer (Jaws screenreader reading). Again, I get the navigation bar ALT letter N (Jaws screenreader reading) and the down arrow to choose the file. This is the (Jaws screenreader reading) table and I will press enter. So, in this example what you want to do is down arrow to the table in the first cell is labeled state (Jaws screenreader reading). So the state is in the first column, the states of the United States. The second column is the bird, the third column is the flower in the fourth column is the tree. Again if I just do control ALT right arrow go to column 2 and control ALT down arrow to go down I hear that this bird is the yellow (inaudible) but I do not know what state that is automatically without going back and checking it out. So make sure you are back in the field and do control ALT home if you've moved away to go back to column 1, row one and there's a couple things we are going to do here. The first thing I want you to do is let's check the checkbox so that the headings, cross on both pages because this is a long table. That's what I did this to give you the experience. The first page on top of the page to visually is the state of Nebraska with its bird, flower, Tree. Make sure you are back in the first row, anywhere in the first round and right corners with your mouse on it I think you can do shift 10 if you don't have, so shift F10 does the same thing. It is the older way to do it and what you are looking as the table properties that you can down arrow to our press the letter R as in Ralph. There's also another one here in 2010. They've got two things that have the same underlying letter R. so press the letter R. And press enter on table properties (Jaws screenreader reading). Okay. So we land on the table page of the table properties so do a control tab to do the row page. Or the row tab as Jaws calls it. Once you've done the control tab to go to the row tab page if you press the tab key you should see the specify height checkbox and if you tab again you will hear allow road across to break across pages. Normally that checkbox is checked by default and what that does is, if I have a whole bunch of, if I have several lines in a table cell that wrap, like there are two lines on top of each other or three lines on top of each other in a table cell, this checkbox allows the roaster break across the page. If you are familiar with styles there is something called an orphan and a widow. You never want to leave one line by itself. On a page. Whether it is the first one last line of the paragraph and that is what orphans and widows refer to. There was one of those examples and one of the cells serum by unchecking the checkbox alone to row to break across pages of detailed information in the table cell on one page and doesn't split it across two pages. That is a nice thing to do in some cases. I think it should be not checked by default but it is checked normally. The next one is, if you tab is repeat has had a road across the top of each page and that is the one that you want. You want to check that one and you can just press enter to close the dialog box. And now scroll down to page 2 and visually on page join if the state bird or flower and tree headers at the top of the page to instead of Nebraska at the top of the page. I had a Skype bubble pop up here. Okay. So make sure you are back at the top first cell to the Jaws part would control ALT outlook to give back to the first cell. Go back to the letter in and press the letter K. for bookmark. Or navigate to it using a virtual ribbon menus as I talked to you about before. Just down arrow to the links group and you will find it there. I'm just going to do the same thing here because I've got in the first column the state and across the top is the bird and flower and tree, so I want to just use the word title. And I will press enter. And I will do control ALT right arrow to get the call in the same fashion as I did. Close the zip files if you've still got those open. And go back to the lesson. Going back into the lesson for creating accessible tables. And choose the link for the next page. You see out that happen again? Jaws didn't read the next page link for me and the keystroke I used to get it to work was inserted to escape. So hopefully those of you using Jaws and other keystroke. It is a good one. Insert escape will have a screen reader is not a browser refreshes the screen reader refresh and I'm going to press enter to go to the next page (Jaws screenreader reading). So if you are using Microsoft Excel and you have a similar setup in a spreadsheet with a sighted person will do as they are navigating the spreadsheet when it is a huge spreadsheet and things go off down to the bottom or off to the right they have the ability and you do as well if you are a Jaws user to freeze the frames. Freeze the panes I guess is a term that is called. The person can choose to lock the first row or column and so on could be that the first two rows or columns as well or more but vacant lot that visually so they don't scroll off the page and everything scrolls it keeps track of everything is really nice visually. The same thing we have here for Jaws users is the ability to insert a bookmark, put in a name. And the name future in Microsoft Excel is basically used a lot of times for creating name ranges and I think Karen mentioned this in her webinar last week as well that she uses the name future and therefore would give something a name such as first-quarter sales as opposed the range which might be from B5 to C 53 or something like that. It's a lot easier to remember the name. You will find a lot of people using names but the names we are using for Jaws are pretty unique. Any old I shouldn't say the old days because you can still do it there was a way for Jaws user to manually create their own row column and titles. This is an end-user practice (Jaws screenreader reading). Mark has asked Will making tables accessible work for MBT in Window eyes or only Jaws? As far as I know, Norm, this is only going to work for Jaws, but it certainly wouldn't hurt to do that and I'm sure that now that window eyes has the ability to do scripting and stuff they could probably if they chose to, do the same thing. They might actually have started to. I don't know. This method will only work for Jaws but theoretically another screen reader could use the same naming feature. Jaws users could manually set the row and column in Excel by using insert the letter V adjust Jaws voice options predicted also use keystrokes if you have enough fingers ALT control insert (inaudible) ALT control insert the letter R said to row columns (Jaws screenreader reading) I had a hard time figuring out how to do that when I was practicing. There's also a practice table that talks keystrokes for doing it the way that we are going to do it which is using the built-in feature. So let's just talk about how if you are doing both row and column (Jaws screenreader reading) ALT for 2003 and earlier he was ALT I took over the (Jaws screenreader reading) in 2010 it is ALT plus the letter M. for Mary (Jaws screenreader reading) you have a little bit more steps to do. So the same thing is true for both row and column titles. You could just use the word title just like we just did in the bookmark feature in Word. And for row titles you can do the same thing, just use row title and for column title you can do column title. All of this is in your folder so let's go ahead and practice it. One other thing I want to talk about is if you are doing multiple regions support before you go to the practice, and chances are you will be doing multiple regions, a region is just a blob of cells from the top left corner to the bottom right corner. It could be like I mentioned it could be your first-quarter sales. That is one small block of data within the worksheet. So if you have multiple regions the way we are going to do this and I'm going to type it into the chat area as well we will type in something like title region one. Then the first cell of the top left I'm using anyone as an example, F4 is the bottom right hand of the it's going to depend on what the bottom cell is and then the number one because this is going to be the first worksheet that you are working on. Norm asks is that one word or spaces, and it is one word because the same thing happens here. It will actually let you type those is kind of funny when you press enter you get the nasty little dialog box that hits you in the face. It's not going to let you do it in the end. You have to go back and figure out what did I do. So title region one, first cell in top left corner, left some bottom right corner. And then (Jaws screenreader reading) going to press insert F7 and bring up the list of links. And go ahead and press enter on the practice Excel workbook link.  It will open up a zip file, down arrow to select or if you have the information or navigation bar which everyone pops up we will deal with that (Jaws screenreader reading). Okay so I just let Jaws go ahead and read the message to me. It told me that the navigation bar was open and read the information on it. ALT and the letter N would move to the information bar or navigation bar. I think it is on the open button, but I'm just going to say, it is and I will press (inaudible). Down arrow to select the file title examples (Jaws screenreader reading) and enter to go ahead and enter it. Close the zip file. Let me get this into view. While I'm giving it a chance to open it on your computer we haven't posted it online yet but in the next couple months I am going to have a webinar on how to use Internet Explorer nine specifically with Jaws 12. If you have people out there using Internet Explorer 9 we recommend they don't go to number nine if they're using screen magnification because Microsoft does something that breaks the smoothing of the fonts. But if you are using Jaws and are interested in learning how to use Internet Explorer 10. This will be a free webinar sometime I'm thinking probably in July or August. All right so I'm going to put my cursor in the first cell (Jaws screenreader reading) and I will press the right arrow. There is the weekly number one and week two, week three, week four and totals. Down the first column if I go down the left to a woman and downward is January, February, March. I'm not going to go through all of them because we are running out of time. Time is always fun. Norm is asking where do we find free webinars? That's a good question, Norm (Jaws screenreader reading). It is freedomscientific.com/elearn I just pushed out a link for you there. Back in the Excel document let's go ahead and moved to, it is the data tab. ALT and the letter M. Sorry, it is the formulas tab if you are just using virtual ribbons you can press ALT and right arrow three times to go to the formulas tab (Jaws screenreader reading). It is the defining names group. I think it is the second group. It looks like it is the second group. If you're using the keyboard, ALT letter M., then the letter M. to move to define them. Then you can press D for define name and then you can or you can press enter. So here you have a similar dialog box to it is not quite the same, but the same purpose as for putting in a name almost like a bookmark in Word and again (inaudible) is allowed. So what you want to do is type in this case like I did in the other example, region one or sorry, title, region one (Jaws screenreader reading). Not the number one, not do not spell it out. Title, region one,is and it is the title I across the numbers her. Then a period (Jaws screenreader reading). It doesn't have to be capitalized, you can capitalize it if you want. A1, then a period. F as in fox, four. And this is as a period. This is the worksheet we are working on there is another worksheet if you are working on control page down, there is another worksheet for you to practice with doing it on a second worksheet so after attempt for.. Title, region, one, A1.F4. One that signifies the worksheet number and you can press enter to close that. Then I rolled down arrow or control ALT down arrow and go to the right to control ALT right arrow. You don't have to use control ALT. That's only in tables. I get confused sometimes. Just use your arrow keys. And Excel just use the arrow keys to navigate and if you want to hear both the column and row header press and NUM pad 5 by itself. But ALT control G. brings up the go to dialog box and type in A7 and you will be in the same situation the top left corner of a new range. In Jaws announced it as a new revision region. The student can drag onto the formulas tab by pressing ALT and the letter in. Letter M. again for defined name it isn't the defining games group. It opens up a new menu and defined name is the first one I will present interpret this time is type in the title region, too. And a period. And I will give you the court and it's here. F7, title, region, too,is.A7., the bottom right is D. 10+, because it is still in worksheet one this sounds like bingo. And then press enter. And I will just down arrow and right arrow. So down arrow in this range and then NUM pad five by itself. I have 39 apples in November. I was right at the top of the hour. About two minutes till pretty good if you want to save the documents to practice with later he will have the opportunity to open them again., We will get back over to the webinar room. First of all I'm going to stop sharing my desktop. Now if you are a Jaws user inside the training review process it's going to push out the contact information page. There it comes. On the contact information page there is a link that says entire context of contents of today's presentation if you want to grab all the contents, choose this link. The entire contents of today's presentation, there's also an evaluation form link. Really appreciate it if you have the time to give us some feedback it always helps and one more thing I wanted to mention is that the great thing about using this naming feature whether it is the bookmark feature or that row and column in Excel using the name feature, the great thing about these things is that they are computer independent. The names are saved within the Word document or within the spreadsheet itself and it doesn't require the creation or transfer of any configuration files which would be the case with doing this the old way with Jaws where they have to create it themselves and the third thing that I think is a really big bandages that you don't have to have Jaws running or even on your computer to do this. So play I will leave it on, I will say the final word, and the final word is styles and I will turn it back over to Norm. Thanks everybody. Styles.

I have a quick question, a personal one. That is that I was in an Excel spreadsheet with multiple regions. You explained how to put in a row heading titles with the naming function. If I were using a Jaws verbosity function I assume I cannot do well to pull regions, is that correct?

You actually can, but not on the same worksheet. You can use one way and one worksheet in another way and another worksheet but you cannot combine the new way using a name feature in the old way you know, using the manual creation or shouldn't say the old way because it still exists and the reason it exists obviously is because a lot of times people don't have this information in the worksheet or the workbook.

Well, thanks, this is really more than I can learn in one hour. I'm going to have to go back myself and go through a couple times. I want to thank you very much great if anybody else has a couple quick questions that could probably stay for a couple minutes otherwise I want to go and let my lunch.

Yeah, I had to eat my lunch before. Artist has asked does Word 2007 work by 2010. The answer is yes. For the most part (Jaws screenreader reading) as I say, qualified. There are some cases they are, artist, where they have changed the keystroke like I'm just going to make up one instead of pressing ALT letter N to open the insert menu and letter K. for bookmark they might have changed it to alt letter N an M for mark. There have been some small changes like that so you have to try it sometimes. One other thing I forgot to mention is that in Excel you can press ALT and letter M to go to the formulas tab and the letter N as in November instead of N as in November will bring up the name manager and you can review the names that you've typed if they stopped working because you withdraw ranges from one location to another or the range out grew what it originally was you can come back into the name manager and fix that, either delete the old one or edit the name of it. Harms is that they change them to keep us confused. That's true. Just looking at the chat area. Susan says if we create a table in Word using styles and bookmarks as demonstrated with Jaws, will Jaws I guess read the PDF as it did. She wrote that as well. I was just looking at it. Will Jaws read it as a kid that word document? Qualifying saying yes. For the most part it should. Okay? Actually no I don't think, not the Word document. I will have to try that, Susan. He would still be a good idea to do that although I don't think it's going to do the same thing, no. I should try that. Give me a call at 800, I will give you the 800 number here. 800-444-4443 ext. 1016 overall so you can write to DanC, of course that's on the contact information page as well. Send me an e-mail. I will test it and let you know for sure and I could certainly send it to Norm and have them send it out. Absolutely. Thanks, Susan. If there are no other questions I will turn it over to Norm. I know that he is hungry and I don't want him to get mad at me. Thanks, everybody.

Thanks, Dan. It's been a great webinar. I have a lot to play with.
